The Ascend Educational Fund will provide two-year or four-year college scholarships to promising immigrant students in New York City, who were either born outside the US or have two parents born outside the U.S., in the range of $2,500-$20,000. They have begun accepting scholarship applications online, and the deadline is April 15, 2013.   

Scholarship Criteria

Students will be eligible for the scholarships if they:

1. Were born outside the United States or have two foreign-born parents
2. Will graduate from a high school in New York City
3. Will enroll full-time at an accredited public or private college or university
4. Demonstrate qualities traditionally valued by the immigrant community: hard work, resourcefulness, perseverance in the face of adversity, academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to one's community

Application Deadline: April 15, 2013

Finalists selected for an interview will be notified: May 13, 2013

Interviews held: May 18-19, 2013, and each finalist must attend in person for consideration.
